The Lake was just about frozen over and everywhere was a winter wonderland. It was too cold to stand and loiter but got hot coffee in the centre and had a wander about. What a disappointment when I returned the Monday at the beginning of the March Break with my family in tow to find nothing. We were staying at the nearby delta hotel and figured we would make the short walk down to harbourfront and walk around and explore, only to find a ghost town and a building now filled with offices. I'm not sure when this place underwent such a dramatic makeover, but it is certainly not the Queens Quay of my youth. Based on the cost of a regular men's haircut at the barbershop located in side $36, rent in this place must be a fortune and it's no wonder all those stores have migrated out.
